BRIAN SCHROEDER is professor and chair of philosophy and director of religious studies at the rochester institute of technology. He has published widely in the areas of continental european philosophy, the history of philosophy, east asian philosophy, buddhist philosophy, and environmental philosophy. In 2001, he was one of two fulbright senior research rellows in italy. He is the general co-editor with silvia benso of the suny press series in contemporary italian philosophy, with whom he has co-authored, co-edited, and co-translated numerous books and articles on italian philosophy. He currently serves as executive committee member of the comparative and continental philosophy circle, and is formerly co-director of the society for phenomenology and existential philosophy, co-director of the international association for environmental philosophy, executive committee member of the nietzsche society, and director of the collegium phaenomenologicum.
